Joe Green is the Chief Executive Officer of Cherokee Renewables. Prior to joining Cherokee Renewables, Mr. Green served as a Senior Advisor to the Noble Investment Group in the capital markets area and as the Chief Executive Officer of KeyBridge Capital LLC, a company that was formed in conjunction with FBR Capital Markets Corporation. Before joining KeyBridge, Mr. Green served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Winston Hotels, Inc., a publicly traded (NYSE: WXH) hotel REIT that owned and developed hotel properties directly and through joint ventures, provided and acquired hotel loans, and provided hotel development and asset management services until July 2007 when Winston was acquired through a merger with Inland American. An investment in Winston Hotels’ common stock from the date of its initial public offering in May 1994 through the date of its sale generated a total return of approximately of 353%. During Winston’s 13 year public tenure, the company achieved an equity multiple of 2.7x and an IRR of 24% at the asset level with average leverage of 36%. Mr. Green began his tenure with Winston in 1993, when he led the team that took Winston public in 1994 and oversaw hotel acquisitions and financings, capital raising, joint ventures and other strategic transactions, as well as all financial reporting and public company compliance efforts. Prior to joining Winston, Mr. Green worked with various real estate companies including those that he co-founded. Mr. Green earned a B.A. at East Carolina University in 1972, a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1976 and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University in 1978.
