CHEROKEE'S LEED PLATINUM PROJECT

Cherokee received Platinum certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system for its new corporate headquarters. Our award-winning office space is in a hundred-year-old historic building, and former furniture warehouse, in downtown Raleigh, N.C., right across from the city’s bus hub. Today it is an innovative, green building fit with hundreds of environmentally responsible and high performance features. It was the first LEED-certified building in Raleigh, the first certified LEED Platinum project in N.C. and one of the first LEED Platinum historic projects in the world. Read the press release.

The new facility incorporates energy-saving concepts such as a highly insulated, reflective roof to reduce heat gain; ENERGY STAR-certified office equipment as well as efficient lighting and mechanical systems, which reduce energy use by over 35%; water-saving features including efficient faucets and waterless urinals, which reduce water use by 50%; and healthy indoor air quality features that include zero- or low-VOC paints, adhesives, sealants, furniture and carpeting.
